Do you often find credit card offers filling up your mailbox$%: We all receive credit card pitches weekly or even daily. Credit card companies just won't stop from vying for our business. The funny part of these offers is the balance transfers. These offers are usually low interest rate credit cards. However, they are commonly high when it comes to purchases.

If you currently have a credit card with a horrible percentage rate, then there is a good chance that you'd like to transfer your balance and resolve the issue. The good news is that here's your big chance. Not only can you lower the APR, but suddenly it's 0. Well, for the first year anyway, because all bets will be off after the first 12 months are up.

In my life, I've had a total of two credit cards. Both were MasterCard, and both hooked me with low APR on balance transfers. I have to admit that I wished this lasted for longer than a year. Zero percent balance transfer can look awesome when you're dealing with student loans, car costs, or other credit cards. However, you have to make sure that you can pay the balance off before your year is up. The problem is that most people do not. That's the way the routine works and credit card companies count on it.

Then there are also high interest rate credit cards. Do you know who in the world goes for these cards$%: Only young folks with no credit usually want to obtain these high interest rate credit cards. Many teenagers and college students want a Banana Republic card because they lack any decent amount of cash. This is understandable because many of us have been there. I guess only the trust fund kids did not go through the experience of being forced to obtain high interest rate credit cards.

It is obvious that you should steer clear of high interest rate credit cards. The monthly interest of these cards will kill you. You probably intend on using the card regularly, if you don't have much spending money. There is also a very good chance that you won't be able to pay it off every month. This is why you should avoid high interest rate credit cards. That 22 percent APR on purchases will bleed you dry. You will suddenly find that you have three grand on your card and the interest alone is too much for you to afford. Remember to take the path less chosen.
